Welcome to my first chat page. I’ll be keeping you up to date
with all of our “hat happenings’ on a regular basis. Many
of my clients from all over Australia win Fashions on the
Field in their area and we’d all love to see you in your finery,
so send me a photo of yourself looking gorgeous in your Hat
Box hat and I’ll include it on this page. |
Danielle Williams Best Hat Melbourne Cup 2005

Last November we won the Big One. Elizabeth R’s toy coolie
hat won the Millinery Award at the Melbourne Cup Carnival
for Danielle Williams at Sunshine Beach. It’s the first time
the grand prize has left Melbourne and if my milliners have
any say about it, it won’t be the last. |
January means Magic Millions on the Gold Coast.
As you can see from the photo, my clients always have a fun
time, especially Natalie Letford who was one of the four finalists
in the Paspaley Best Dressed competition. Natalie is pictured
second from the right. |

We recently celebrated International Women’s
Day with a lunch and fashion parade at the Conrad Hotel. Twelve
Brisbane Hat Box milliners made purple and green hats (the
colours of the feminist movement) especially for the event,
which were then auctioned for the Second Chance programme
which assists homeless women. Their generosity was greatly
appreciated. |

LOOKING AHEAD
In April, you’ll be seeing our fabulous new winter hats teamed
with outfits from Covers every Friday at “Fashion Fridays”
in the Marco Polo Restaurant, Treasury Casino. Catch up with
your friends, have a great lunch and check the latest racing
fashions. May 10th sees us being featured at the Sofitel Fashion
Club morning tea. Di Cant will be dispensing fashion advice
on how to look sensational at the winter racing carnival.
The following day, Thursday May 11, Women in Racing will be
holding a celebrity lunch at the Brisbane Turf Club, Doomben
featuring Gai Waterhouse and a parade from The Hat Box. Ring
me for further information. |

We’re now coming in to our busiest time of
year, Brisbane’s Winter Racing Carnival. Come and see me early
if you wish to have a hat made to match an outfit. My milliners
would appreciate 3 weeks notice to do justice to your chapeau.
Please do not leave such an important decision until the last
minute. Remember, Hat Box hats win Fashions on the Field every
year. I look forward to seeing you soon. |
